English is the third most spoken language in the world, with around 379 million speakers. natives. However, if you count the people who speak it as a second language, the number of English speakers increases to over one billion.

The importance of preserving languages

Each language is a rich source of knowledge and a valuable expression of a group of people's cultural identity. The loss of a language means the loss of a unique perspective of the world.

That's why it's crucial to take steps to preserve endangered languages. This can include documenting languages, teaching languages to new generations, and promoting policies that support linguistic diversity.
